This game economy is already busted, because it's not a real economy, and as long as it has hidden information that only certain players can exploit, it never will be one. In addition, the only time prices fluctuate wildly for a single item is when it was undervalued to begin with, and then people realize that it's undervalued (generally due to a streamer making a build with it), there's a brief period of overvaluation, and then a new equilibrium settles back in - all things which would happen exactly the same way with an auction type site except for the fact a newer player might have slightly less chance to get screwed over. However, the way things work now is that someone can try to deliberately undercut the market by listing a bunch of the same item for a price they have no intention of selling at, and then using sniping tools to pick up steals from those who list their item at that price not knowing any better. If players checking a trading site knew that items listed for 5c had to be sold at 5c, they would feel comfortable knowing that's the current price. One of the reasons prices fluctuate so wildly is that the economy has too much hidden information, and this encourages volatility.
